Big Spring Falls – Banning State Park

Sandstone, MN

Big Spring Falls is a 5 ft. sandstone waterfall located south of the city of Sandstone and within the boundaries of Banning State Park.  There is a small parking area at the end of Pine Ave S - a short hike along well-worn paths and the sound of rushing water will lead you to the falls.

The Kettle River water levels fluctuate based on rainfall and the spring melt. At time the entire falls area will be flooded and inaccessible. At other times the falls will be barely a tickle. Because the parking area is a relatively short distance from the falls, hiking back in low light should not be an issue.
